OUR SERVICES

Adult & Pediatric Home Hospice Care Services

Notre Dame Hospice Care provides comfort, compassion, companionship and support to patients nearing end of life and their family members when a treatment or cure for an underlying disease is no longer available. Services are delivered by a dedicated team of health care professionals who focus on addressing physical, mental, social and spiritual needs to improve quality of life.

Volunteer

Become an Adult or Pediatric Hospice Care Volunteer.

Hospice care volunteers offer their time and talents to provide patients and their families with compassionate care and support as they face their serious illness, life-limiting illness, or end of life.  Volunteers can also assist the organization with daily operations in the office setting.  There are a multitude of ways that your talents can help support our programs.

Volunteers can support our program in the following ways:

ADULT HOSPICE CARE

Under the guidance and supervision of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team, many volunteers opt to work directly with our clients in 1:1 or group settings. Opportunities are available for those seeking a different experience as well, including office assistance and more.

  • Visit and provide companionship
  • Specific tasks, prepare meals, run errands, read, or help with household chores
  • Offering a supportive and caring presence to the patient and family
  • Respite for the family
  • Childcare, reading to the patient, playing cards/games
  • Office support- filing, answering phones, mailings
  • Gardening
  • Massage
  • Crafts
  • Knitting/quilting crocheting

PEDIATRIC HOSPICE CARE

Our Pediatric Hospice Care Program is looking for kind, compassionate individuals who love to work with children.

  • Provide companionship and developmentally appropriate play to alleviate a sense of isolation
  • Enable siblings to receive 1:1 companionship for support, tutoring and socialization
  • Provide caretaker with temporary respite, while caregiver is home
  • Assist with social events

The Notre Dame Hospice volunteer training program offers on going education, supervision, and support to ensure the success of everyone involved. Because our volunteers often have so many other commitments, the orientation process is as streamlined as possible. Orientation can be completed as a self-study, online, or within a structured group setting.
