The comprehensive, compassionate palliative care delivered through Notre Dame At Home aims to help patients and families as they endure the difficulties and challenges associated with serious illnesses, life-limiting, and terminal illnesses.
Notre Dame Health Care’s Pediatric Palliative Care program (Pedi Pals) has been caring for children with life limiting-illnesses since 2012, with the goal of improving quality of life.
The Pedi Pals program serves the unmet physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of eligible children and their families in Massachusetts.
Children and their families receive care that includes nurse case management, social work, spiritual care, child-life specialist, music therapy, massage therapy, and art therapy. Our team members are all trained in understanding how children and families cope with illness, how children interact with the world, and childhood development. Pedi Pals staff can also assist in creating a legacy for parents and family if the child passes. If desired, handprints, photos, other types of art and recorded songs can preserve memories for the family.
Our program is part of the Massachusetts Pediatric Palliative Care Network (PPCN) and services are provided at no cost to children 18 years old and younger who have a life-limiting illness.
